Keep The Dream Alive

Track 9 - Keep The Dream Alive written by Andy Bell the former Ride and Hurricane No 1 guitarist writes a song reminiscent of his former band (who did get tarred with the brush that the songs sounded like Oasis) and its also pulls a guitar riff from Rising Sign (an excellent track off the second Hurricane No 1 album).

The song has a really great rolling baseline (as Bell is now a bass player this isn't surprising) and has a monster chorus that literally explodes out of the speakers. Plus it has the classic Oasis moment at the end (the "na na, repeat the same word/line to fill a perfectly good 4 minute song out to 5+" as Martin put it to me once!)

It's the "poppiest" song Oasis have ever stuck on an album, yet at the same time is very much them.

Lyrics:

Four seasons, seconds flicker fast, I'm alone
A lonely screen provides the scene, it's no home
Every night I hear you scream
But you don't say what you mean
This was my dream, but now my dream has flown

I'm at the crossroads waiting for the sign
My life is standing still but I'm still alive
Every night I think I know
In the lonely where did it go?
The answers disappear when I open my eyes

I'm no stranger to this place
Where real life and dreams collide
And even though I fall from grace
I will keep the dream alive
I will keep the dream alive

Four seasons, seconds flicker fast, I'm alone
A lonely screen provides the scene, it's no home
Every night I hear you scream
But you don't say what you mean
This was my dream, but now my dream has flown

I'm no stranger to this place
Where real life and dreams collide
And even though I fall from grace
I will keep the dream alive

I'm no stranger to this place
Where real life and dreams collide
And even though I fall from grace
I will keep the dream alive

(Guitar Solo)

(ubiquitous Oasis part coming up....) Na, Na, Na......etc.
