Star Wars premiere
"You brought me back for those lines Lucas?" - James Earl Jones really deserves lines of gravitas
So the rest of you lucky guys outside Asia probably got to a screening over the weekend. In Japan and South Korea we're having to wait until July to see it on the big screen.
But that did not stop the film getting a gala preview screening at my house on Saturday night. Got a copy of the Workprint that has been in heavy rotation on the torrent scene since last Thursday, the quality was much better than one would expect (though I can't wait to see it in the cinema, that opening set piece alone would be worth the 1,300en ticket price).
I think everyone thought it was a much better film than the previous two prequals. My personal thoughts are that despite McGregor and Portman putting in poor, wooden performances the script was tighter and the pacing was much better. Palpatine was excellent and I thought that Hayden did a decent job of mental collapse. The less said about Darth Vaders "Noooooooooooooo" the better.......
After the Revenge of The Sith we watched the Cup Final live (which turned out to be a dissapointing affair) and then some people went home and a couple of us continued to drink/play cards and watch Airplane till the early hours of Sunday morning.
Earlier in the day we'd gone to watch Vortis who had a lack of ideas in the final third and ended up loosing 1-0 to Holly Hock. In two weeks time they play Yokohama and the match is free for foreigners, which is sweet....
Yesterday was spent cleaning out what people had left in the fridge (food and booze) and I also wrote 3 songs. Nothing got recorded thanks to me re-installing Panther back on my Mac. I should have Pro Tools on by the middle of the week so I'm hopefull of having 5 songs recorded for Open Mic night.
Next weekend I'm off to Hiroshima to watch Jack Johnson play, which should be good. Thursday night will see a Lost finale party round at Kirstens which I'm really looking forward to. Theres also a little football match happening at 3:45am on the same day, which I may be getting up to watch......Come on you Reds!
